20th Anniversary of Dickens on the Square a Huge Success

Macomb has officially entered the holiday season with the completion of the 20th annual Dickens on the Square.  While visitors to Macomb’s historic downtown square saw many of their favorite remnants from the ghost of Dickens’ past, they also saw signs from the ghost of Dickens’ present.  And if the success of last weekend’s event is any indication, the ghost of Dickens’ future is here to stay!  Downtown Macomb’s annual Victorian-themed festival continues to be a holiday favorite for many area residents.  The event provides an opportunity for people to experience an old-fashioned English Christmas complete with horse-drawn carriage rides and streets filled with Victorian characters.  We are still gathering comments and suggestions from those that participated in this year’s event.  Those comments will be used as plans begin for the 21st annual Dickens on the Square.

Gift Certificate Goal Set

Once again the Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Development Corporation is promoting the sale of Chamber Gift Certificates for the 2014 Holiday Season.

The sale of Chamber Gift Certificates throughout the year provides a major boost to our local economy as these gift certificates are available in any denomination (up to a maximum of $50 each), have no expiration date and are accepted at over 140 locations in Macomb. That’s at least 12 more businesses than accepted them last year!  Chamber Gift Certificates offer the recipient a variety of ways to spend, from the super-practical to the uber-chic.

For 2014, we will again strive to reach a Chamber Gift Certificate sales goal of $200,000 and, WITH YOUR HELP, we WILL SUCCEED!!
