• BILINGUAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ADVOCATE/COUNSELOR AND SEXUAL ASSAULT RESPONSE TEAM LEGAL/MEDICAL ADVOCATE

    The Western Illinois Regional Council-Community Action Agency has the following employment opportunities available within its Victim Services Department:

    BILINGUAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ADVOCATE/COUNSELOR
    Essential Functions: Under the supervision of the Victim Services Director, the Bilingual DV Advocate/Counselor is responsible to work primarily with individuals who are Spanish speaking for the legal advocacy elements of the Domestic Violence Program, including crisis counseling, IDVA legal advocacy, civil, and criminal legal advocacy, institutional advocacy, community education, and professional training.  This position provides DV counseling services primarily to this underserved population, including in-person and group counseling.  Periodic on-call hotline duty on a rotational basis is a function of the position.
    Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work, or psychology and two years’ work experience in the social work profession or a combination of education/experience in a related field. Person must be bilingual; bicultural preferred.  Candidate must be highly organized, work well under stress, possess basic computer/word processing skills, and understand/maintain client confidentiality as required by law.   


    SEXUAL ASSAULT RESPONSE TEAM LEGAL/MEDICAL ADVOCATE
    Essential Functions:  Under the supervision of the Victim Services Director, the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) Legal/Medical Advocate is responsible for all aspects of individual and systems advocacy with survivors of sexual assault/abuse and significant others; collaborates with counselors when needed; provides crisis counseling, other advocacy, information and referrals; and completes all required documentation of services in a timely manner.  Periodic on-call duty on a rotational basis is a function of the position.
    Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work, or psychology and one year work experience in the social work profession or a combination of education/experience in a related field. Candidate must be highly organized, work well under stress, possess basic computer/word processing skills, and understand/maintain client confidentiality as required by law.  This position requires office time in both Galesburg and Macomb.
